Many of the statues created in New Kingdom have survived. The statues constructed demonstrate an extraordinary display directly attributable to the power of the king and the state. Statues that were made represented pharaohs, scribes, animals, gods and goddesses. They would commonly consist of human and godlike attributes and symbols combined. Some statues created depict the certain flaws of the pharaoh’s body. During the reign of Akhenaten statues became increasing more realistic for instance in the early stages of his reign the statues made portrayed him with a long, thin face and a generally weak body. It was a lifelike and appalling way to represent the pharaoh of Egypt. After his death, succeeding pharaohs moved back to common ways to the less personal and less realistic style of sculpture.
